Things to know about cannabis tourism in Uruguay

It has been pretty much predetermined at this point that Uruguay is going to be the first country to officially legalize cannabis. It stands to reason, that people are going to be curious about making this a vacation destination.

RastaVacations is compiling information here to help you learn more about cannabis friendly Uruguay!

For starters, Uruguay is a long way from the United States. From just about anywhere in the U.S. it is between 5,000 - 6,000 miles away ... basically making it a once in a lifetime experience for anyone considering a trip there.

The native language in Uruguay is Spanish, but most of the cities and tourist sites have people there who can speak English.

Uruguay is a subtropical climate.  Average annual temperatures fluctuate between lows in the 40's to highs in the 80's. The most notable beach destinations are Punta del Este, Piriapolis, La Paloma, La Pedrera, Cabo Polonio, Punta del Diablo and Santa Teresa (national park and camping).

Beach houses are typically the preferred choice of lodging accommodation rather than hotel rooms.  They are plentiful, right along the coast, and outside the high season, quite affordable. During the first two weeks of January it's impossible to find anything, as every cottage and hotel room is booked months in advance.

In Uruguay, 10% of the population uses cannabis regularly. Since cannabis is predicted to be legal, it would appear that the majority of people there are going to be amiable towards access and consumption of cannabis.

We will be updating this blog post as things rapidly progress there.  Hopefully soon, RastaVacations will be adding new exciting vacation packages to Uruguay!
